City of Bend, Oregon to Take State Lead in Digital, Online Plan Submission
and Review with Avolve’s ProjectDox ePlan Solution
ePlan Submission Seen as Key Milestone in Bend’s Green Initiatives
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — May 28, 2008 — Avolve Software, developers of ProjectDox® communication and collaboration software,
announced today that the City of Bend, Oregon has initiated an end-to-end digital plan submission and review
program featuring Avolve Software’s ProjectDox ePlan software. The City of Bend becomes the first community in the State of Oregon
to implement a complete online solution for construction and land-use plan approval, in what is to become a state-wide technology
standard for building and planning departments.
Located in Deschutes County at the geographic center of the state, the City of Bend is the heart of the scenic and rapidly
growing Central Oregon region. Since 1990, Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties have collectively doubled in size, with Bend
more than tripling its population – exerting pressure on the city to streamline services and manage growth while conserving the environment.
Bend recently received “Green Power Community” status, a national award presented by the Environmental Protection Agency to
communities that commit to environmentally-friendly power use and management.
“We welcome all the social and economic development that is coming to our city, and to support it responsibly, we must provide
the most advanced services possible to businesses and citizens who want to live and work here”, said Robert Mathias, Building Division
Manager for the city of Bend. “By expediting the plan review process and eliminating paper, ProjectDox helps make doing business with
Bend easier, faster and greener. We’re excited and proud to be setting the pace in this arena for the region and the state,” he added.
The city’s online ePlan submission system became operational in May 2008, and further integration with the city’s existing permit
application and tracking software is ongoing. The ePlan system is now available to select customers and will gradually include more
types of permits and reviews.
“The City of Bend is to be congratulated for taking a smart, proactive approach to the challenges of accelerated development and setting
the pace for Central Oregon as well as the entire state,” said Ron Loback, President and CEO of Avolve. “We designed ProjectDox to be the
ePlan management solution capable of supporting the big-picture technology and environmental vision that the City of Bend is making a reality.”
