City of Goodyear Arizona Selects Avolve Software’s ProjectDox® Electronic
Plan Review Solution to Help Manage Rapid Growth
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — December 20, 2007 — Avolve Software, developers of ProjectDox® communication and collaboration software,
announced today that the City of Goodyear, Arizona will deploy Avolve’s ProjectDox web-based software as part of an e-government
program that enables the city to streamline construction permit approval with the addition of electronic plan submission, review
and tracking
The accelerated pace of development led the City Goodyear’s Building Safety Division and Engineering Department to seek ways
to improve development processes, including ways to shorten the length of time necessary to review building plans while concurrently
improving the accuracy of plan reviews. The ProjectDox system will help them achieve both of these goals while also offering a
valuable convenience to the citizens: the ability to submit their plans from their office, home, or even the local coffee shop.
“In less than 20 years, Goodyear has gone from a relatively small, agricultural community to vibrant residential, commercial and
entertainment center in the Southwest Valley,” said Bruce Roberts, Senior Plan Engineer for the City of Goodyear. “We want to do
everything possible to encourage smart, responsible growth and make it easier to do business with the city of Goodyear.”
“With ProjectDox, we’ll be able to improve the speed and accuracy of our plan reviews,” Roberts added. “It will also help us achieve
our environmental goals by drastically reducing paper consumption. By using digital plan submission and review, we’ll also be able to save
time, and reduce traffic and emissions because citizens won’t have to drive back and forth to the city’s engineering department.”
“ProjectDox offers substantial value in leveraging the potential of emerging communities, as well as the large metropolis”, said Ron Loback,
President and CEO of Avolve. “Goodyear is a model city poised for expansion and committed to best practices for managing that expansion and the
services that go with it. We are also excited to have Goodyear join our other successful existing city and county clients in Arizona.”
About the City of Goodyear
The city of Goodyear has grown more than 150 percent during the past six years. Three nationally known developers are currently competing for
the design contract for a 200-acre city center. The soon-to-be-built Goodyear Ballpark and Recreation Complex will serve as the Spring Training
home for the Cleveland Indians. A nearby mixed-use campus will offer dining, entertainment, retail, hotel and office space, bringing new and
exciting venues to Goodyear. A premier mall will offer upscale, popular shopping in the Southwest Valley. The city of Goodyear, incorporated in
1985, began as part of 16,000 acres purchased in 1917 for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in order to grow cotton used to make rubber tires
for airplanes in World War I. World War II brought the Litchfield Naval Air Facility and the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation, where the original,
and now-famous rubber dirigibles or “blimps” were built at the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation – later to become the Goodyear Aerospace Corporation.
In the 1980s, the 10,000 acres that remained of the original Goodyear Farms was sold and developed into a master-planned, mixed-use community.
The city is currently engaged in annexation proceedings to acquire an additional 67 square miles of land for further expansion.
