Maricopa County To Roll Out Avolve Software’s ProjectDox® Online Construction Plan Submission and Review Solution

Plan Check System Designed to Reduce Paper, Time and Travel While Supporting Broader e-Initiatives

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — July 11, 2007 — Avolve Software, developers of ProjectDox® communication and collaboration software, announced today that Maricopa County Arizona will deploy Avolve’s ProjectDox as part of an ongoing e-government program that will significantly reduce the amount of paper, travel and other time and cost inefficiencies associated with obtaining a construction permit. Maricopa County joins a growing list of cities and counties across the nation that are implementing electronic plan-check systems, as well as other web-based technologies, to manage complex internal processes and provide outward-facing tools to better serve their respective citizens.

Gordon Jennings, Director of Information Technologies for Maricopa County Planning and Development cites cumbersome manual processes coupled with explosive growth as driving the program. “As one of America’s largest and fastest growing counties, we have witnessed a huge increase in demand not only for faster and better permitting services, but for streamlined IT infrastructure between departments. Moving to electronic review and approval gives us a number of near and long-term advantages over paper-based manual processes and fits well with our vision of system interoperability.”

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Maricopa County is ranked as the fourth largest county in the United States, with the largest recorded increase in population nationwide since the 2000 census, showing a net increase of nearly 700,000 people predicted by the end of 2007. The county was named the fastest growing in America for 2005 and 2006. Maricopa County covers over nine thousand square miles. The county received more than 16,000 requests for building permits in 2006, and over 7,000 to date in 2007.

“The submission and approval of construction plans electronically is a significant step forward for any local government agency, and not just in terms of minimizing paper”, said Ron Loback, President and CEO at Avolve. “The ripple effect of automating plan-check services touches on fuel consumption, exhaust emissions, traffic congestion – a host of social, ecological and economic concerns. This decision demonstrates Maricopa County’s continuing commitment to a better future,” he added.
