United States Department of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Monies Secured for ProjectDox Implementation

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — February 23, 2010 — Avolve Software Corporation, developers of ProjectDox® Communication and collaboration software and the leading provider of ePlan solutions for government nationwide, announced today that the City of Clearwater, Florida has chosen to implement and deploy the company’s ProjectDox electronic plan submission, review and tracking system as part of Clearwater’s Certified Green City status, with funding assistance from the federal government.

The Florida Green Building Coalition, as part of its Green Local Government program, granted Green City Certification to Clearwater in December 2009. The Green Local Government standard includes meeting a comprehensive list of criteria encompassing environmental programs, initiatives, and events. On the way to earning the award, city management applied for and received a block grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for $1,075,400.00 in October 2009 to be used on four separate projects that focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship. Deploying electronic plan submission and review to the community is one of those projects.

The City’s USDOE Grant application was compiled in-house by the Planning and Development Department in conjunction with the General Services Department. To learn more about the Green City designation, call the Environmental Division of the Engineering at (727) 562-4897.

ProjectDox ePlan solution allows jurisdictions like Clearwater to offer web-based file submission and review to citizens, architects, and developers who work with Building, Planning and Public Works departments reviewing site, building and engineering plans. Key benefits include reducing paper, printing costs, storage costs, deforestation, drive time, gasoline consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions – while improving customer service and enabling greater efficiency between multiple departments.

The City of Clearwater, adjacent to the City of Tampa, is the county seat of Pinellas County and is located on the highest coastal bluff in Florida, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Clearwater gets its name from the literal translation of the native Indian word “Pocotopaug” because of the many fresh water springs that flow near its Gulf shores. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Clearwater is over 108,000 residents. Clearwater Certified Green City status underscores that it is a progressive city that is committed to enhancing residents’ lives while preserving a heritage that is rich in culture and exquisite in landscape.

“The City of Clearwater’s acquisition of funding from federal sources to assist in its electronic plan submission and review project signals that ePlan technology is a legitimate national resource for green initiatives,” said Ron Loback, CEO and President of Avolve Software. “Our federal grants webinar presentation and white paper can help other jurisdictions be informed about potential federal funding sources and get them started on applying for grant money”, he added.
