Department of Consumer Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) Expands Use of New Technologies to Boost Neighborhood Renovation and Sustainable Construction; Encourage Commercial Investment
Scottsdale, Ariz. — April 14, 2010 — Avolve Software Corporation, developers of ProjectDox® Communication and collaboration software and the leading provider of ePlan solutions for government nationwide, announced today that the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., will implement and deploy the company’s ProjectDox electronic plan submission, review and tracking system as part of the District’s urban planning and development technology strategy.
According to DCRA Director Linda Argo, the DCRA has the responsibility to “protect the health, safety, economic interests and quality-of-life for residents, businesses and visitors in the District of Columbia, by issuing licenses and permits, conducting inspections, enforcing building, housing and safety codes; regulating land use and development; and providing consumer education and advocacy services.”
ProjectDox ePlan solution allows Washington D.C. to provide web-based file submission and review to citizens, architects, and developers who work with Building, Planning and Public Works departments reviewing site, building and engineering plans. Key benefits include reducing paper, printing costs, storage costs, deforestation, drive time, gasoline consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions – while improving customer service and enabling greater efficiency between multiple departments.
Washington D.C. has made commitments to sustainable construction practices and friendlier business processes using technologies for online permitting – in efforts to promote responsible land use and urban renovation. Recently the DCRA has focused on vacant properties that are a potential blight on the community when neglected by owners in a down economy. Avolve Software ePlan technology supports the District’s streamlining strategy by reducing costs to citizen and commercial investment customers; and by integrating data sources that converge in the plan submission, review and approval process.
“As the nation’s capital and a prestigious international center that is always in the spotlight, Washington D.C. has adopted a forward-looking urban development strategy and continues to move towards the forefront of sustainability, services delivery and information management,” said Ron Loback, CEO and President of Avolve Software. “We’re proud to be partnering with the DCRA in its effort to make our nation’s capital a model of efficiency.”
